News reaching VolumeGh this morning indicates that, two Nigerians who were arrested for flouting against the directives by His Excellency Nana Akuffo Addo, tested positive to Coronavirus but refused treatment.
The two Nigerians whose name withheld for security reasons, refused to submit to treatment at the national treatment center, making their management difficult.
They were moved from Ga East municipal hospital,Ghana’s main national Covid-19 treatment center.
As at now, the Nigerians have been secluded in a police facility and the Ghana Police Service is contacting the Nigerian ambassador to Ghana to discuss on their management issues.
After that, the government will decide whether they should be repatriated back to their home country,Nigeria or not.
“The two Nigerians who tested positive to COVID-19 and were transferred from a Police holding facility of the Accra District Police to the National Treatment Center, have been returned to the Police facility as a matter of necessity, to enable health officials to manage them,” the Ghana Police Service said in a Facebook post.
Whiles this may lead to officers getting exposed to the deadly virus, the Ghana Police Service assures the public that, they will not be in contact with any of the two foreigners as it engages its medical team to safeguard Police officers and their facility.
The outbreak is severe and has caused thousands of lives globally.
I urge all Ghanaians and Foreigners in the country to practise social distancing and self quarantine to avoid the spread of COVID-19.
This is the directive imposed by the president of Ghana to ensure everyone’s safety.
If the virus doesn’t spread,no one gets infected.
If no one gets infected, the country will be back again in good condition.
